I’ve had many folks ask me, “Mel, why didn’t you pick journalism as your major instead?”

The answer is simple: I’m afraid of losing my inspiration; I’m afraid of never tasting success; I’m afraid of being inferior; I’m afraid of losing my love for writing once it becomes classified as just another job I’ve to do.

In short, fear.
